Thank you for following Mindspire. I don’t treat that as casual.
I understand you now serve as Head of Vocations and Lay Ministry Development within the Diocese of Salisbury, alongside parish ministry in Bemerton. Supporting discernment, equipping Licensed Lay Ministers, helping people test whether what they feel is ego, enthusiasm, or actual calling — that’s serious work. Especially in an era where noise is often mistaken for vocation.
For context, I was born Roman Catholic. That’s my wiring. Confession means ownership. Authority carries consequence. Grace does not eliminate accountability. Those habits don’t leave you, even if you occasionally argue with them.
I once attended an Anglican service in Harrogate. I arrived observant and slightly guarded. I left recognising something deeply familiar. Order. Reverence. Scripture without spectacle. If I’m honest, I remember thinking: some of you are more Catholic than we are. I mean that respectfully.
Both our communions have chapters we would rather footnote than headline. Institutional failure is not unique to Rome or Canterbury. The real test is whether leadership confronts weakness directly or protects optics. You have worked in both ecclesial and legal structures, so you know the difference.
Mindspire itself is not religious. It operates as a non-clinical governance framework under HMW-AI-LIC-84-NC-GOV from 1 April 2026 . It documents structure. It avoids theatre.
